About the book ČOVJEK BEZ OSOBINA II
Od Balzaca ljudsko postojanje nije shvatljivo bez svojih povijesnih korijena. Istraživanjem vlastitih likova i situacija u koje dolaze Musil postavlja egzistencijalnu dijagnozu svojega stoljeća. I doista, u njegovoj Kakaniji već sve postoji: vladavina tehnike, koju nitko nema pod nadzorom i koja čovjeka svodi na statistiku; brzina kao najveća vrijednost; sveprisutna birokracija, koja preobražava bit postojanja (velika zajednička tema Musila i Kafke); romantični senzibilitet kao tvrdokorno nasljeđe prethodnoga stoljeća i njegovo pretvaranje u kič; pretjerana simpatija spram prijestupnika kao mističan izraz religije ljudskih prava te kult djeteta, koji se hladnoći tehničkoga doba suprotstavlja glupavim smiješkom.
