About the book GLAZBA VRELE VODE
... I tu je tajna uspjeha Charlesa Bukowskog. U stoljeću u kojem Amerikanci svoj bunt i otpor izriču na sve moguće načine, Bukowski to čini najsuptilnije, neopterećen ikakvim idejnim balastom, ičim što bi ga moglo dovesti u poziciju nekakvoga proroka. Uostalom, i sam je Bukowski rekao da su ga oduvijek zanimale samo priče i žene. Ako se nađe i koja kapljica tim bolje.
U Bukowskog je teško iščitati Salingerov egzistencijalizam, Hemingwayev prosvjed protiv rata i nasilja, niti Kerouacovu romantiku individualca, Ginsbergov »krik«|Burroughsov eksperimentalizam, Huxleyjev new age, čak ni Millerovu artificijelnu erotiku, još teže Fitzgeraldov moralizam ili Dreiserov sociologizam. Unatoč tome, Bukowski je, začudo, iako uz dosta »hoda po mukama«, uspio postati kultnom (od mnogih navedenih i kultnijom) figurom undergrounda i novih američkih »izgubljenih generacija«, ma što pod tim pojmom razumijevali.
Zbog čega? Zbog toga jer su sve »velike« teme i »krucijalni« problemi u Bukowskog sažeti i izraženi na jednoj jedinoj razini: razini čiste zajebancije. A to treba znati.
