"Polazeći od bića kao takvog u svojoj "Raspravi o prvom principu" (Tractatus de primo principio) Ivan Duns Škot (1266 -1308) dolazi do pojma Boga kao beskonačnog bića, što je najviši domet njegove metafizike. Ludger Honnefelder pokazuje da je Škot svojim drugim početkom u srednjovjekovnoj metafizici utjecao na novovjekovnu metafiziku (F. Suarez, Chr. Wolff) i na modernu metafiziku (Ch. S. Peirce) te da je Kantov kritički projekt zapravo transformacija Škotova temeljnog polazišta". (Mile Babić)
