NOGOMET je u Zagreb krajem devetnaestog stoljeća donio dr. Franjo Bučar. O tom važnom događaju sam je zapisao: "NOGOMET se u Zagrebu prvi put počeo igrati 1894. godine, u vrtu Hrvatskog sokola, nakon Što sam se vratio sa studija tjelesnog odgoja u Stockholmu, gdje sam tu igru prvi put vidio i naučio u Centralnom gimnastičkom zavodu, gdje smo vježbali floretovanje, tenis, kriket, hokej i druge moderne športove."
Pravi procvat NOGOMET je doživio 6. studenoga 1903. godine osnivanjem AŠK-a (Akademskog športskog kluba), a za to je najzaslužniji HINKO WURTH, svestrani športaš, sjajan organizator, inicijator i animator. Nakon godinu dana, 1904., društvo je nazvano HAŠK.
