Dobro je poznato da Hegelova filozofija prava kulminira u potpunom prihvaćanju države i njene ideje, štoviše u njenoj neprikrivenoj apologiji. Država je za njega "zbiljski Bog"1, ona je "božanska volja kao sadašnji-prisutni duh, koji se razvija do zbiljskog lika i organizacije jednog svijeta" . "Stoga se mora državu štovati poput nečeg zemaljski božanskog"3, kaže Hegel.
Meni se međutim čini da je, posve suprotno svjesnim i željenim intencijama i namjerama Hegelovim, osnovni ishod i odista značajni i mjerodavni rezultat cjelokupne njegove filozofije prava sadržan upravo u suptilnoj, dubokoj i dalekosežnoj analizi građanskog društva.
